These natural Fairy Stones come from the Harricana River in Abitibi, Quebec — the only region where these rare clay‑and‑sand concretions form in such distinct shapes. Created thousands of years ago in the soft deposits left behind by retreating glaciers, each piece shows the classic smooth “front” and textured “back” with puffed spheres and natural markings. Some stones display faint lines or impressions left by ancient organic material, preserved in the clay like a quiet memory of the landscape that shaped them. Averaging 2.5 inches, these pieces are earthy, grounding, and completely unique, with no two forms ever repeating.
Fairy Stones have long been honored by the Algonquin people as symbols of luck, protection, and harmony with the natural world. Their soft, rounded shapes were believed to guard against negative energy and wandering spirits, while also attracting good fortune on journeys, hunts, and in the home. The gentle, chalky texture and naturally sculpted forms feel like something shaped by both earth and story — a reminder of glacial waters, ancient time, and the quiet presence of the land. These stones carry a simple, grounded magic: protection, prosperity, and a connection to the unseen rhythms of nature.
